Tim Crane

Tim is a Specialist Leader in the Strategy and Operations Group and focuses almost entirely on distribution. He has over 30 years of experience in distribution with 20+ as a consultant. He has led numerous transformation and new development projects but prides himself on providing the optimal solution that meets the client’s needs at a reasonable value. Tim has worked with almost all forms of distribution and automation allowing him to provide innovative solutions to an industry that have been proven in other applications. In his past, Tim sold and implemented large automation projects for MHE suppliers and was the Director of Distribution for a Global Retailer, so he understands the vendor’s as well as the client’s issues.
His clients include prominent companies such as: Coke, Sysco Foods, Kroger, Dollar General, Motorola, Abbott Labs, Cardinal Healthcare, Anheuser Busch, Motorola, etc. Tim’s supply chain experience includes; Distribution Strategy, Distribution Operations, Network Strategy, Inventory Planning and some Transportation Planning. Selected projects include leading the network strategy and automation selection for a major grocery client. The business case and recommendations were critical as they affected over 7,000 jobs and required a capital investment of over $1.4B in MHE. Roll-outs are still ongoing but are meeting planned savings targets. The results have significantly changed the grocery distribution process.
Tim has also led the operations effort for the development and build out of a new regional distribution model for a leading food service provider. He's insured integration of the new process without affecting service levels from the existing DC’s. He's led the evaluation and implementation of improvements of the primary European DC for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer. His team redesigned the existing automation and replaced the WMS to meet corporate efficiency goals and provide a more stable solution. The DC processed over $40B annually of sales, therefore it was critical to not impact service levels during our work.
Tim has a BS in engineering from West Point and is based in the Los Angeles, CA office.
