Dr. Julie Akers

Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Dr. Julie Akers serves as Interim Dean of Washington State University’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and teaches pharmacy law and topics in health care systems, pharmacy management, and pharmacotherapy.

Her research includes medication management, HPV education and prevention, and the role of community pharmacists in treating minor illnesses. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Akers worked in the private sector. She is a past president of the Washington State Pharmacy Association and currently serves on the APhA Government Affairs Committee.

Dr. Akers completed the NACDS Foundation’s Faculty Scholars Program in 2019 and has continued to inspire future generations of pharmacy research leaders through the program.
